Alternative title: 6 Goals Goalfest Away
Positives - 3 points gained.
- Officially, the first away win in the season (after failed attempts in Poland and Numancia).
- This is the first win in la Liga and with the huge amount of goals scored it's a huge win. Morale and confidence (hopefully) will rise sky high and that Barcelona can progressed even better as the season progresses.
- Goals came from set-pieces as well as from open play. More so the goals that came from open play were results of great intricate passes and gameplay. Has to be said four goals from open play, so it's a huge improvement.
- The team displayed great attacking and pressure againts Sporting Gijon, and they displayed real good spirit.
- I thought that Guardiola made good substitutions in regards of the flow of the game. Not that those changes paid excellent dividens, just that it enabled the substitutes who came in to get minutes and gelling with the team.
- With a game coming in this Wednesday, and with the scoreline and nobody injured, it serves to a good, expected match from Barcelona againts Betis at Camp Nou.
- Once again, sh-tty goal conceded. Even though this time the goal conceded was from an open counter by Sporting Gijon, the fact that once again a poor goal was scored againts Barcelona is alarming. It's something that Guardiola has to work on. The team has not played againts very high calibre oppositions yet, and if this keeps up Barcelona will dangerouly concede goals that would cost them valuable points/victories.
And it looks as in most games, Victor Valdes would not have much to do, except for unable to stop the rivals from getting an easy goal(s). - The other trend that is continuing is that after Gijon scored, once again Barcelona got shaky and nervous (though they kept attacking and pressuring). Perhaps the sending off of the Sporting Gijon player enabled Barcelona to once again full composure and domination of the game.
- Even though Iniesta has been playing absolutely great lately in the left wing position, I think that his finishing at times still lets him down. Sure he scored the forth, but there was once in the first half that Messi break through the Sporting Gijon defense, passed to Iniesta but only for Barcelona's number 8 to shoot just wide of the goal. If Iniesta can score more goals, I believe he can end up being an indispensable first choice player for the team this season. These past two games are showing he's great in gameplay, attacking, distributing and assisting (the Xavi-Iniesta goal combo once again) and if he can add more,.... sky's the limit.
