CHAPTER 181: EURO 2008......semi-finals analysis...

"The players should not feel bad. Yes, they lost, of course we are out, but it was our 47th day together and it is not easy to work when everyone else is on holiday. They have been here to serve their country and I told them I was proud of them, that what they did is important, and I wished them every success in the future. "
- Fatih Terim

Best match: Russia – Spain
I’m picking this match simply because Germany played terrible and at the same time, what the hell was the problem with the broadcasting of the first semifinal, kept being shown off and on most of the time. Very irritating.

Best Player: Fabregas.

As usual, once Fabregas entered the pitch, Spain’s play and tempo rises. It’s also evident that the goals came from Spain and he himself gave the assist to Guiza’s goal.

Best Goal: Philip Lahm’s.

Kinda strange to think, the Turks always had their ‘last minute action heroes stuff’ going on in this tournament. Only for them to leave the tournament by a last minute goal from……..Germany. Nevertheless, I’m sure Turkey (and Fatih Terim) will gain appropriate and well deserved respect for their spirit and bravador.
What I don’t get is the celebration that Germany did at the end of the match. The German players all sat on the field, then it seemed as if Podolski was conducting the German crowd to hush. Then suddenly he went up against the crowd like crazy and celebrated. What was the deal with all that.

So, finally we’ll be seeing the Germans against the Spanish, in the final. Next and final stop, Vienna, 29th June 2008.
