"GERRAAAAAAAAAAARRRRD!!!!!!!!!" - Martin Tyler
This is something like a sequel to the previous post, Chapter 68, with the same title and the same notion.
But today's post got more to do with football, especially last night's FA Cup final played between Liverpool and West Ham United.
Didn't watch the entire game though. by the time I decided to see how the game had turned out, it was around the 83rd minute of the game, and I saw the scoreline was that West Ham was leading Liverpool 3-2. I was shocked to see that, since Liverpool was the bigger club and everybody's money was on them to lift the trophy. I thought that it was a real surprise, West Ham, the underdog in the match, and reached the final where no one really expected them to, was gonna win this year's FA Cup edition, and there were 7-9 minutes from winning it.
Then, when it was entering injury time (90th minute) as Liverpool was attacking and pressing towards the West Ham goal mouth, a series of quick passes fell to Steven Gerrard, and he scored an ASTONISHING goal. Given the manner of the goal, the timing of the goal, the way and technique that Gerrard shot that goal, and of course the consequences of the goal, it changed the entire scope of the game instantaneouly.
Score:
Incredible. I'll say that it was a 'classic' Steven Gerrard goal.
I myself couldn't believe it when I witnessed that goal. Another miracle had happened in football. Kinda feeling sorry for West Ham at that time, there were just like a couple of minutes to finish the game off and became winners......suddenly all was levelled again.
With Gerrard's 'moment of brilliance', the game was level again, and carried on into extra-time.
Anyway, the game ended in the same fashion for Liverpool as it did with them in last year's Champions League final.
went to penalties shoot-out.
And during the penalty shoot-outs, there was another moments changing--life turning event.
Reina, the Liverpool keeper, had conceded three goals during the match. The commentator last night, Martin Tyler, had mentioned that Reina was erratic during the match. But Reina went from zero-to-hero as he saved three penalties (and just like I'd mentioned, the was Liverpool won was similar to their last year's success story). Reina in a way, won the FA Cup for Liverpool in the space of the period of the penalty shoot-outs which was no more than 7-8 minutes.
As par with the namesake of the title, sometimes moments in life do really can change in a quick matter of seconds.

All it took was what.......several seconds of magic from the Koppites captain to change the entire scenario round?Incredible. I'll say that it was a 'classic' Steven Gerrard goal.
