The End of Oscar De La Hoya?
If anything’s evident from the fight, is that De La Hoya lost the fight badly, and Manny Pacquiao simply dominated on almost all fronts against the Mexican.
I think that, the moment in which De La Hoya probably got the better of Pacquiao was perhaps in the ends of the fifth round, when it seems as if he fought back.
Alas, Pacquiao always came in each round blazing, no strong answer from Oscar De la Hoya. The commendable thing to say about Oscar is maybe that he didn’t get dropped or knocked by Manny’s punches, but the bruises he was getting clearly showed on his face, and eventual his corner decided to stop the fight, giving the Filipino a historic victory against one of the sport’s well known competitors., and giving his coach Freddie Roach the due he would have for his convictions on Oscar. At the end of the fight, Manny Pacquiao seemed fresh as he was from the first round without receiving or sustaining any hits or injuries.
Questions regarding De La Hoya’s performance:
Anyhow, one must congratulate and respect on the victory of Manny Pacquaio. That was a dominating performance. And it brings to further potential dream match ups for boxing purists to hope for (possibly with the other tough guys).
On a final point, it would be a shame if this fight would be Oscar’s last fight. If Oscar could have one last fight, he better give it all and try to win as best as he could. His legacy could just be a little better remembered.

Questions regarding De La Hoya’s performance:
- Why with another lackluster fight?
- The other question needs to be asked is why did he came into the fight weighing a little lesser than his opponent? Considering that Oscar’s got the bigger body frame/size than Pacquaio I’m finding it baffling.
- What about all the talk of him coming back to prove a point and getting back on track sort of talks, seems all of that’s gone bust, considering that the post fight comments form Oscar himself ain’t that positive.
