CHAPTER 135: PAVAROTTI

" I hope to be remembered as an opera singer. In other words, as a representative of an art form which has found its maximum expression in my country. And I also hope that my love of opera will always remain at the center of my life. "
- Luciano Pavarotti

Pavarotti will always be one of those larger than life figures that I first came to know through television when I was a young boy growing up.
Even though I didn’t know who he was or what he is doing, and then as I grew up I knew of who he is and what he does (to a certain extent), and even though Pavarotti’s profession is something that I have no interest in, still he’s that persona in being one of those unique figures that I have come to know of in my life (even if it’s just through tv or media).
People like Yasser Arafat, Princess Diana, George Best, Steve Irwin, Francois Mitterand, Aaliyah, Marlon Brando………Pavarotti’s in my list of those kind of figures or individuals who I have come across the media from outside my country, people who are famous in what they do and the human being that they are…….and the recognition that they got and had………and whatever values that they transmit to the world from whatever they did, either on a personal level or on a professional cause.

People come and people go.
And inevitably, those who you came across throughout your life, no matter whether you personally came to touch with that person or not, it still life’s fact that those people will one day leave this world.
