In the early hours of this morning (around 12:30 am to be exact), I went down to get me watch some la Liga action on TV just after my last-minute HCI studying. Went down to living room to see the match between Athletic Bilbao against Valencia. Wanted to see it just to know what outcome of the game would be like, ‘cause if Valencia failed to clinch victory in that match, that means Barça just need to win at Sanchez Pichuan to clinch the 18th la Liga title (considering the gap between Barça and Valencia now and considering there’s 5 games to play in the season after this, season’s gonna end soon). So, I switched on the TV, turned on channel 80.
I saw that the score was still scoreless. That’s good. It was the 30th minute already (and it was the second half), so I thought “Allright, this is good. Barça can be champs tonight.”. So I continued watching all the football action that happened at San Mames, hoping that Los Ches would fail to be victorius that night. Suddenly, around the 35th minute, Valencia broke the counter, countered-attacked Bilbao, some nifty play and passes later, David Villa broke the deadlock. 0-1 to Valencia.
Then I thought “Okay,…. Maybe now Barça just need to win tonight, then need to win against Cadiz next week at CampNou. So that’s fitting as well, clinching La Liga title on home turf instead on opposition field.”.
Then, about two minutes later, Valencia scored again, and again through Villa. I then thought “HEY, WHAT’S HAPPENING? This is odd. Why the hell they’re scoring two goals soo quickly.”. And it was nearing the end of game time, so more odd feeling at that time. Valencia had countered again, and this time, the entire Bilbao defence got blitzkrieg real bad, thus conceding the second goal in poor marking fashion (embarrassing really). Haiiiiiihhhhhhhh………..
“Okay, Los Ches are gonna win this match, nothing Bilbao can do ‘bout it now. Barça gotta wait. Haiiiihhhhhhh………”
Later, add two-three minutes later, Valencia SCORED again and the goal was tapped in by Villa AGAIN after receiving a simple pass from Mista from a Valencia attack. Then my mind was
“WHAT THE F---KKK. SON OF A B-TCH.”
That moment I really got pissed. At that point it was not about Valencia winning anymore. I got pissed ‘cause with that third goal, Villa got a hat-trick. And with that hat-trick, Villa’s now scored 22 goals in La Liga and is now just two goals shy from Eto’o’s total goals tally of 24. I was pissed cause’ now Eto’o might lose out on his Pichihi title this season. And how the hell Villa could managed a hat-trick that time? (!) That son of a b-tch, easily scoring a hat-trick (what some more with it being done from 10 minutes left in the game, fu-kin’ crap.). Whatever it is, Villa’s proving himself to be the best and most consistent Spanish striker this season. His move to Valencia fromZaragoza really does him good, now that he can be a star in his own right. It’ll be interesting to see if Aragones picks him up for the Spanish national squad and see how he would perform in the World Cup.
After that, I went back to my room to continue my last minute HCI studying (test was today at 10:30 am). After getting some snooze, got up again at 4:45 am, as I then rushed down again to catch the game between Sevilla-Barça that was to be played at that time. So, again switched don the TV. And, to the astonishment, the montage showed on the screen, text showing that the game between Sevilla and Barcelona had been postponed, due to bad weather (heavy rain). Astonishing! The game had to be called off! Who wouldda thought that this scenario coudda happen?! Now it’s unsure (‘cause of the implications of what took place in La Liga) when Barça can be proclaimed as champions. The only good thing about the postponement of the match is that, now Barça got extra time to rest and have plenty of energy to be reserved for that very crucial Champions League match against Milan in midweek. Fuhhhhh…… What such moments. Wah.
BTW, here’s a clip form YouTube, Villa’s hat-trick (b-stard):
