CHAPTER 57: Remembering......Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi (1947 - 2004)

"It's death whether by killing or by cancer; it's the same thing. Nothing will change if it's an Apache (helicopter) or cardiac arrest. But I prefer to be killed by Apache."
- Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi

About a month after Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was assasinated, his successor at that time, Abdel Aziz ar-Rantissi was also killed in an identical manner. I still remember, on the Friday in the week after he was killed, as after Friday prayers was performed at the UIAM mosque, there came the call from the Imam calling the other Muslims to perform the solat jenazah ghaib for Rantissi. There was 5-6 full lines of Muslims who had rushed to the front of the praying compound to perform that prayer as soon as the Imam made the call.

Rantissi was among those that had formed HAMAS alongside Yassin. And he was another Palestinian that had struggled long in his life and sacrificed for the same cause that Yassin and the other Palestinian citizens were fighting for, to break free from the aggression and oppression of the Israely regime and occupation. Another refugee striving for freedom.

Known as a vocal leader, (and like some like before him, was potrayed as a bad man by some and a good man by others) he had been fueled up by the passion of liberating Palestine ever since his teenage days, and was always prepared to put the interest of freeing his country more so than anything else in the world. And as others, was always prepared to leave the world as a martyr.
Rantissi was a doctor trained in pediatrics. And in a biography it was written that he had given care and aid to Palestinian children free of charge. And he was always prepared to face the worst....and was not afraid of death.

Rantissi himself was arrested by Israel many times. But he always fought on, just like any other Palestinian fighting and dying for their cause. And he, just like so many others before him, left this world on the light of martyrdom, knowing that he had done all his might for the freedom of Palestine.

Below is a song made by an artist called Doc Jazz, a Palestinian himself who had also been ousted by Israel's occupation of Palestine like many others. A tribute to Rantissi.

Doctor Tell the World - Doc Jazz

”As long as the tragedy is still going ahead, no one can stop resistance...
We are looking for an end for our suffering, our tragedy ...
An end for all kinds of aggression against our people ...
Because we will not surrender in front of Israeli terror.”

Doctor tell the world, what we are fighting for
So they can understand.
We will follow you, cause your words are true
Until we free our land.

”Who is the terrorist?
The occupier, or the people under occupation?
It is unbelievable to accept that formula ...
We are under occupation, and according to international laws, we have the right to defend our people, to defend our land, and to fight occupiers ...”

Doctor tell the world, what we are fighting for
So they can understand.
We will follow you, cause your words are true
Until we free our land.

”I am not afraid, I am looking to be a martyr...
Why?
Because I believe that the last day for me is not in the hand of Sharon, but in the hand of Allah ...
Allah is the only one who decides when I should leave this world,
and I prefer to leave it martyr ...

They should say to them: stop your aggression, stop your assassination, stop your massacres ... stop your detention to Palestinians ... stop your dismissing to millions of Palestinians...
They should say to the occupier: Stop. Enough is enough.”

Doctor tell the world, what we are fighting for
So they can understand.
We will follow you, cause your words are true
Until we free our land.

You gave your life as a sacrifice
Peace be upon you now.
We won't let you down, we will never bow
Peace be upon you now.

”And they shouldn't say to the victim:
Stop your resistance .. stop your hope to be free like any human being in the world
Stop your looking to return home ...
so I want to return home……."

Hamas looking for an end of the Palestinian tragedy ... and Hamas will do for that goal ...

No one can stop resistance.

No one can stop resistance.

No one can stop resistance.
