CHAPTER 21: Samy Vellu's ultimatum

"Just do it." - NIKE

Last Sunday, Samy Vellu, the Malaysian Works Minister, appeared on TV3 news at 8. He was complaining and giving his displeasure about people criticising him on the 'failed' project of MRR2 (and also that night, TV3 highlighted another road problem, this time concerning a tunnel that's supposedly cracked on a highway called Terowong Menara), as well as other things. So, the old man with the fake hair came out and gave out his personal handphone number. He said that he's inviting anyone from the public (no matter who) to come out and give him a call, so he can talk and find out what is their problem with anything that he is related to or whatever (like that):
019 - 216 5555
Samy Vellu even mentioned that you can even call him at 1 o'clock in the morning, no problem.

Come yesterday night, Samy Vellu appeared on TV3 again. HE came out and COMPLAINED and GIVING HIS DISPLEASURE again, this time at the people and amount of replies that he got on his handphone. TV3 at that time had on the headline box below the screen, written:
" Menteri tidak dapat tidur "
Samy Vellu went on and said something like ".......pukul satu pun boleh panggil, tapi panggilan itu kene ade kandungan...". BTW, here's a link to another blog (by arifsanchez on Shafla*Syndicate, dated 15th Feb) where got a bit of info regarding the aftermath of Samy Vellu's action. Anyway instead, he told people to direct their calls, complaints or suggestions to another telephone line: 32728 (the JKR line).
What was he thinking when he freely gave out his hp no to the public?
I thought that that number surely wasn't his, I was thinking maybe it was just a deploy to let people having an easier line to contact, so that perhaps any of his men from his department would reply and then forward to him any info from the public. But when I saw the news last night, I couldn't stop LOL for several seconds. Once again, what was Samy Vellu thinking?! He's an educated man, a politician, and a minister in the government of Malaysia (since like since the 'dinasour age'-he always is around). You know that when you freely state your personal contact number, any sort of person can call you. You can have annoying people, crazy people, mad people, hell, you can even get educated and sane people who's trying or pretending to be mad calling you!!
In a way, it shows what a useless man he is (and he's still associated with problems).

Useless man
