"Cinta bukan mengajar kita lemah, tetapi membangkitkan kekuatan. Cinta bukan mengajar kita menghina diri, tetapi menghembus kegagahan. Cinta bukan melemahkan semangat, tetapi membangkitkan semangat." - Hamka
14th February. 'Lovey dovey February'. What day is it today that these people keep referring to?? Emm...........what was it...............................ah yes. Valentine's Day.
No need to explain. All those who are old old enough or just reached puberty will know what this day 'Valentine's Day' is all about. The day where a person 'shows' or 'expresses' one's desire of love to another person, and that can be in form of various stuff, such as giving flowers, greeting cards, chocolates, spending on night dinner (candlelight dinner?), jewellery, dancing, a cup of teh tarik, etc., etc....
But how many of these people, or us,.... knows what exactly is the origin of Valentine's Day? Or how it comes to be the day we all know so well.
Let's see........(opening the book of world history):
Valentine's Day is associated with the demise, or some historians called it the martyrdom of a Christian priest known as Saint Valentine. This was like during the medieval times (I'm not so sure), the time of the Roman empire. From what I understood and heard from the past and also today (had a chat with Asmadie about it), the deal about Saint Valentine is that he had a differing view on love and marriage, opposed to the thoughts on the same subject by the Roman emperor Claudius II (something like that). The emperor believed that young single men (the Romans) should be soldiers, and not need to get married because these single men are better off being soldiers serving for Rome rather than those men who were married and had to look after their wife and family. Cladius II banned marriage for all single men. St Valentine didn't agree with this, and he supposedly performed marriages for young lovers in secrecy. Claudius were to discovered St Valentine's actions, and thus sentenced the Saint to death. Hence the used term of martyrdom and his demise was thought to be on the 14th of February. The Catholic church in the future later set the 14th February as a day to remember Saint Valentine.
That's more or less what I know, read and heard about the origins of this type of day. Of course, there are many myths and legends.........but it's just one of them.
So...................................................
I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Don't believe in it.The principle that is with this day (that is relating to all these love stuff) is not in me. I mean, just because of this day, suddenly it's the most special day for people in love with their lovers to unite in something. There's the urge in a lot of people everwhere that if you don't do anything special today than that means you're not appreciating or giving care or not habouring that love spark to ignite all those love emotions to your lovers. I mean, what the hell is it soo crucial to make this day a day to remember? For me, it's just ordinary and usual. Besides, my religion does not permit this kind of machination to dwelve in life and thougts.
Of course, for me, there's no harm (and nothing wrong) that this day can be used to declare all those writings and audio speech to your partners, but what's the hassle on just making it special on this particular day? What about the other days..............
This thing called love shouldn't be special on just one day, not just 14 February. It should be an eternal and everlasting process of loving, appreciating and responsibility to each other (even until after death). Having the long-lasting continuity and durability of love, that's what constitutes a phenomenal and powerful relationship between a man and a woman (I view it that way).
I think I betta stop writing about L-O-V-E.
I don't know much about it, neva been in a relationship, so I'm not soo qualified to talk about it.
Furthermore, I don't watch all those soap drama operas where they got the theme of love and the theme that love conquers all (like all those TV3's latino/spanish soap series, chinese drama, phillipino drama, thailand drama, indonesian drama, indian drama/movies, etc., etc..), so I don't take note from the love lecture that evolves in those tv programs. Instead, I watch WWE RAW on Astro SuperSport (drama + wrestling entertainment).

On another note, APIIT is having a Valentine's week. Organised by the SARC. Those who are with APIIT can check out the schedule for their event on the webspace.
Anyway, I find it kinda lame. There's a dedication booth, a flower selling booth, .......and the building's being decorated with stars, hearts and ballons. Furthermore, the SARC members are doing a singing dedication activity (they go up to unsuspecting victims and sing a song to them). Ahhhhhhhh.................don't get much the point of any of it................
Apart from that, today I experienced the worst traffic jam going back from Bukit Jalil to house. Afzal tumpang with me. Below are the list of events that happened throughout the 1&1/2 hours journey (when it (normally, it usually) should have been around 30 minutes):
Later that night, I asked my parents. Anything that happened throughout the day & whether it got hit the media or news. They told me that it was raining heavily in KL at mid-afternoon and evenings, and there were flash floods. Bringing it the jam.
So.......Valentine's Day ehhh?
Hmph, nothing much. Just an ordinary day.

- Left APIIT around 5:50 pm. Dropped Shoun at Arena Green on the way as he was looking for a place to stay there.
- Got to the Seremban-KL highway near 6pm, it was damn jam-packed. It was never like this before, so me and Afzal anticipated it was gonna be a loooooong riiiiiiiiiide............
- We guys talked about various stuff. But what stuff we talked 'bout I've forgotten. Haha. Being stuck in jam for one and a half hours is a long time.
- We saw the big yellow APIIT bus throughout the entire journey. We got a bit suprised to see it, since it was taking about the same route as I was heading (and I tought it was a different bus with the same structure). Took note of it's plate number: BEQ 7142 .
- As we were both awed when we realised that it was the APIIT bus, I nearly banged into the car in front of me! Both got shocked for like 1.0876 seconds. The car in front of mine at that particular time was a metallic Proton Wira, with the plate number WFL 9896.
- As we were more than halfway of the journey, we witnessed and nearly came crashing close to a (presumably) useless Malaysian driver. He drove a light green coloured Proton Wira aeroback (plate number WJP 7972). He was from the left lane. Suddenly turned right and came in the lane I was driving, without showing signal (we presumed he dunno how to give signal). This happened when we were near the National Muzeum. By the way, I noticed that there was a sticker on his car's back window. It wrote: "Love is in the air". Useless idiot.
- Dropped Afzal at SKBD around 7:25 pm. Reached home around 7:30 pm.
- By the time I stopped the car, I checked my handphone. Afzal had SMS me. He forgotten to take his paper he left in my car's backseat, and I forgotten to remind him 'bout it.
Later that night, I asked my parents. Anything that happened throughout the day & whether it got hit the media or news. They told me that it was raining heavily in KL at mid-afternoon and evenings, and there were flash floods. Bringing it the jam.

Since it 's Valentine Day today and love supposedly rules the world today, I share two songs that kinda relate to the theme of love.
The Zombies' song is from the 60's if I'm not mistaken.
The Toni Braxton song is one of my personal favourites (can't believe I stated that). The tune, lyrics and the beat can make me listen to it anytime, anyday. Anyway, I don't really recommend listening to this song for those who are 'unlucky in love' (those who're lonely, just broke up or whatever, or those who can appreciate any kind of song with full emotion). It might just makes you sad and feeling the blues............haha.
I've been writing up too much crap (haha).
Cheers & take care.
