_______________________________________

Last Wednesday (11th January), life resumes again as a student learning all sorts of knowledge related to the field of computing with specialism in a field known as internet technology. Let's begin da blog session by introducing the challenges that will be undertaken in this final chamber of the second stage of the APIIT videogame; CNI, DDD, FCM, HCI & WM. Let's see...........
  • CNI - hmmm,........ piece of sh-t subject related to computer networking. It is the abbreviation for Computer Networks Infrastructure.
  • DDD - hmmm,........ piece of sh-t subject related to databases and DBMS. It is the abbreviation for Database Design and Development.
  • FCM - hmmm,........ piece of sh-t subject related to mathematics. it is the abbreviation for Further Computing Networks.
  • HCI - hmmm,........ piece of sh-t subject related to creating usable and creative interfaces for computing and multimedia applications. It is the abbreviation for Human Computer Interaction.
  • WM - hmmm,........ piece of sh-t subject related to the various technologies available for making related multimedia elements for a website. It is the abbreviation for Web Multimedia.
Now that the challenges have been presented, let us introduce the APIIT masters who will be guiding me (and fellow apprentices) in those challenges.........
For CNI, the lecturer is a David Tan Gei Kar. Anyway, on the first day of the CNI class he insisted that we call him mr. David or just David. He said that he didn't deserve to be addressed as Sir David 'cause he didn't get the title Sir and also that he is not a Sir like Sir Elton John. I though that he looked kinda serious, but when he started teaching and talking, he is not the serious type of lecture lecturing seriously. More of a friendly guy, he has some kind of jovial and honest attitude when he teaches. However, the only thing is....he's the type of lecturer that would go on lecturing, even if some students carry on talkling on their own affairs (even if he knows 'bout it). He's not like dr. K or Frodo, who demands silence and respect when needed during lecturing. Furthermore, sometimes he seems like a lost man when he teaches those too damn technical information, he'll be like putting his left hand behind his head scratching it and looks like he's trying as hard as he can to please his boss. Anyway, he likes to use the word 'layman term' when he wants to explain smthng difficult turned into smthng easy.
Second up, is Sunita a/p Balasundram, lecturer for what the brotherhood and rest of the guys call as triple D. Now, before talking about her, it has to be introduced the man whose name in Hindi means 'kind man'. I'm talking about mr. Dhason. Prior to Sunita teaching triple D, Dhason took over the first two lectures due to the latter not being available cause of emergency leave (no idea what about). This guy's probably one of the most unique lecturers at APIIT; he looks like a gentle guy, he speaks in an Indian-American mixed sounds of English (but fluently), wears the same style of clothes every time I see him (also always wears a 'The Simpons' tie), he likes to say and address to the students as 'friends' and lastly, always give two minutes short break after around 10 minutes of teaching (which sets his uniqueness apart from other lecturers). After giving such break, he always said to us to celebrate it (haha).
Now back to Sunita..........well, what can I say ? She mentioned that she used to be an APIIT student, had some 7-8 years teaching at other colleges, and is now pursuing a Phd In Personal Knowledge Management besides lecturing here (bloody hell). Anyway, she's probably the only female lecturer (or among the female lecturers here) that have her own taste in fashion and all sorts of accesories. She dyes her hair blond. Anyhow, when she teaches, she got this habit of keep sayin 'okay' after she finishes her sentences. Sort of like Jag with his 'right'.
Moving on,... Saw Looi Beng. Lectures on FCM. Likes to sit on the table once in while as he talks, and when he talks, he talks like those Malaysian Chineseman with their Chinese presence when they speak. This guy's fond of saying one after finshing a sentence (e.g. "like that one"). Also likes to flex his wrists in a circle when he speaks.
HCI......headed by a Punjabi, Palvinderjit Kaur a/p Harnek Singh. Don't know what to say, just that she's probably the only one among the five who always seems energetic with gusto and happy attitude when lecturing. Like Dhason, she favors interacting a lot with students.
And finally.......Randolph Tan Suan Wooi (hope I got that right), the man of WM. He's probably the tallest lecturer I had so far, easily a six footer or perhaps maybe 6 -1. He doesn't fold his shirt sleeves unlike David and Saw, and so far, always the same style of shirts -plain colour (anyway, all of em do. It's the minority like Frodo who wears different style of shirts each day). Also, this guy usually grins and exhales slightly forcefully through the nose whenever he explains some concepts where the students are finding it hard to understand. Also, likes to juggle his hands when asking students whether they understood the lecture. Also looks young (perhaps the youngest among the lot this semester). I thought that when I first saw him, maybe he's the same badge as dr. K. Anyway, Randolph said that usually after 6 pm he'll be playing DOTA with APIIT students (...).
That's about it, me lecturers this sem. Out of those five, I've only seen mr David, mr Saw & ms Sunita from before. Neva saw mr Randolph or ms Palvinderjit b'4. And now obviously I'll be seing these people everyday..............
On another note, this semester, the classes are mostly combined from the boys and girls from the first level, so lots of new unfamiliar (but also some familiar) faces are in da house. Also, more "concentration" on various female forms nowadays (haha......the brotherhood can testify for this).
Furthermore, there are some changes at APIIT premise, several "facelifts"; among them:
  • most of the Level 1 classes are now smaller, more classes
  • new computer labs (although it still looked like a ghostown)
  • admin office now at ground floor, the one where ...what you call that room? the used to be blank room
  • library walls now sort of sea blue colour, hell lot of books in boxes still unwrapped
  • even the walls in the surau are sea blue colour
  • supposedly the R&D team moved up their office up the Level 4
  • Past FYP project documentations are now situated along the corridors and in the central syndicate room of Level 2
  • the central syndicate room at Level 3 have now shrunked in half size, combining with the office for the computer - server administrators
  • cafe. Well, not really, ......just that the workers now wear a standard dark green shirt as their uniform. Oh, and another thing, the otai cafe is no longer around. Instead, supposedly his mother is taking care of things now (seems fussy though).
Okaylah, malas dah nak tulis. Until the next chapter.
